Course Choice is designed to work without knowing who you are. This policy explains what we do collect, why, and how long we keep it, in line with the Australian Privacy Principles.
What we do not collect
- We do not offer accounts, so there is nothing to sign up for.
- We do not ask for your name, email address or phone number anywhere on the site.
- We do not pass any information about you to a training provider, university or third party for marketing.
What we do collect
Search and comparison activity, without identity
When you search, use a filter, compare providers, or click through to a provider’s website, we record the search term or qualification code, the filters used, how many results were returned and, for click-throughs, the destination address. We do not record your IP address, a user identifier, or a cookie with these records, so they cannot be linked to you. We keep them for 13 months and then delete them. We use them to see which courses and locations people look for, to fix searches that return nothing, and to produce aggregate reports about demand across the market.
Website analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how the site is used (pages viewed, device type, approximate region). Google sets cookies to do this. You can opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on. Google’s handling of this data is described in Google’s privacy policy.
Maps
Campus maps are provided by Google Maps. When a map loads, your browser requests it from Google, which is subject to Google’s terms and privacy policy.
Your compare tray
The courses you add to a comparison are stored in your own browser (local storage) so they survive moving between pages. They are not sent to us and are not visible to anyone else. Clearing your browser data removes them.
We do not collect email addresses at present. If we introduce an optional alert service in future (for example, to tell you when a published fee changes), it will be opt-in with a confirmation email, it will never be required to see anything on the site, and this policy will be updated first.
Hosting and security
The site is hosted in Australia. Web server logs, which include IP addresses, are kept by our hosting provider for security and are not joined to the search records described above.
Access, correction and complaints
Because we hold no records that identify you, there is usually nothing to access or correct. If you have a question or a complaint about privacy, contact us at privacy@coursechoice.com.au. If you are not satisfied with our response you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
Changes
We will post changes to this policy on this page with the date they take effect.
